The formula used for calculating an incident rate is as follows:
Total # of recordable injuries and illness x 200,000 manhours divided by
Total exposure hours worked = Incident Rate

All participating members with total recordable incident rate decreasing 25% or more of the previous year’s total recordable incident rate incidence rate will be presented a "President's Recognition of Safety Improvement".

EWTC Safety Leadership Awards
Upload a short video submission – one to three minutes in length - explaining in simple terms what you or your company have done that has prompted the nomination.
Your video will be shown at an EWTC event in the fall and distributed to a selection committee for voting. It will also be used on EWTC online platforms, including social media. We recommend ensuring you receive clearance for this from your communications department prior to submission.
The winner will be decided on by a committee of HSE professionals.
Video Instructions:
• Keep it simple so your story is easily and quickly understood.
• Your video should either start by stating: My name is XX from COMPANY NAME and we have been nominated for the XX category or have a lower-third graphic including the same information.
• Explain the reason for nominating.
• Explain the benefits that your organization has realized.
• Be safe – consider your surroundings when filming.
Provide details on:
• The issue that was identified and describe how it was addressed.
• The evidence of benefits and sustainability.
• The role in developing and implementing the innovation.
• The possibility for industry wide use.
